WNT-β Catenin Signaling as a Potential Therapeutic Target for Neurodegenerative Diseases: Current Status and Future Perspective

نویسندگان

چکیده

Wnt/β-catenin (WβC) signaling pathway is an important for the maintenance of cellular homeostasis from embryonic developmental stages to adulthood. The canonical WβC essential neurogenesis, cell proliferation, and whereas noncanonical (WNT/Ca2+ WNT/PCP) responsible polarity, calcium maintenance, migration. Abnormal regulation involved in pathogenesis several neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease (AD), Parkinson’s (PD), Huntington’s (HD), amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), multiple (MS), spinal muscular atrophy (SMA). Hence, alteration considered a potential therapeutic target treatment disease. In present review, we have used bibliographical information PubMed, Google Scholar, Scopus address current prospects role abovementioned diseases.

The Canonical Wnt Signaling (Wnt/β-Catenin Pathway): A Potential Target for Cancer Prevention and Therapy

Precise regulation of signal transduction pathways is crucial for normal animal development and for maintaining cellular and tissue homeostasis in adults. The Wnt/Frizzled-mediated signaling includes canonical and non-canonical signal transduction pathways. Upregulation or downregulation of the canonical Wnt-signaling (or the Wnt/β-Catenin signal transduction) leads to a variety of human diseas...

Exosomes: Future Perspective in Neurodegenerative Diseases

Neurodegeneration is a progressive and irreversible loss of neuronal cells in specific regions of the brain. Alzheimer Diseases (AD) Parkinson Disease (PD) are the most common forms of neurodegenerative diseases in older people. Exosomes are extracellular nanovesicles that have a key role in physiological processes such as intercellular communication, cell migration, angiogenesis, and anti-tumo...

Wnt Signaling as a Potential Therapeutic Target for Frontotemporal Dementia

Progranulin mutations result in frontotemporal dementia, but the underlying pathophysiology has remained largely unexplained. New data by Geschwind and colleagues in this issue of Neuron uncovered that the Wnt/FZD2 signaling pathway is an early and critical contributor to disease pathology.

PPARα as Potential Therapeutic Target for Neurodegenerative Diseases

Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors (PPARs) are members of the nuclear receptors super family and are ligand-activated transcription factors. They are involved in the regulation of metabolic pathologies such as cardiovascular disease, obesity, lipid disorder, hypertension and diabetes [1]. PPARs exist as three subtypes commonly designated as PPARα, PPARΥ, and PPARβ/δ. All PPAR isoforms,...

P184: Combination of Herbal Medicine and Nanomedicine: a Novel Therapeutic Target for Neurodegenerative Diseases

Inflammation is a pathologic condition that includes a wide range of diseases namely neurodegenerative diseases. Several natural anti-inflammatory components have been identified in plant extracts used in traditional medicine for the relief of inflammation. Herbal medicine is showing difficulty in crossing the blood-brain barrier (BBB). So that the ability to pass the BBB is the main concern fo...
